Le public peut prendre go\u00fbt \u00e0 ce qu\u2019on lui offre, m\u00eame si c\u2019est du cin\u00e9ma d\u2019auteur. Il faut en g\u00e9n\u00e9ral \u00e9viter l\u2019uniformisation\u00bb<\/em>, disait-il.<\/p>\n<p>Il est certain que Selma Baccar adh\u00e8re \u00e0 ce choix et y croit, \u00e0 un point tel que son film r\u00e9ussit \u00e0 s\u00e9duire et \u00e0 convaincre le large public, les amoureux du 7e art et les plus exigeants des cin\u00e9philes. Car \u2018\u2018El Ja\u00efda\u2019\u2019 a tout pour plaire : une histoire qui bouge, qui \u00e9volue et o\u00f9 quasiment rien n&rsquo;est t\u00e9l\u00e9phon\u00e9. On y va de surprise en surprise. Les personnages ont l&rsquo;\u00e9paisseur qui convient pour que nous y croyions; ils sont en un mot vraisemblables; ils ne sont d\u00e9peints, ni superficiellement, ni en une profondeur <em>\u00abbergmanienne\u00bb<\/em>, m\u00eame si certains personnages secondaires sont, \u00e0 juste titre, caricaturaux \u00e0 souhait (nous pensons par exemple aux <em>\u00abcadhis\u00bb<\/em> ou juges).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-124552\" src=\"http:\/\/kapitalis.com\/tunisie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/El-jaida-Salma-Baccar.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"209\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>L&rsquo;institution du mariage: une affaire d&rsquo;hommes.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Restituer une \u00e9poque sans tomber dans le pass\u00e9isme<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>\u2018\u2018El Ja\u00efda\u2019\u2019<\/em> est un film d\u2019\u00e9poque. Les reconstitutions y sont heureuses. Si les nostalgiques pourraient \u00eatre combl\u00e9s, l\u2019\u00e9vocation du pass\u00e9 est faite ici sans complaisance, et n\u2019est pas tomb\u00e9e dans le pi\u00e8ge <em>\u00abpass\u00e9iste\u00bb<\/em>. On est loin de cet esprit tourn\u00e9 constamment vers le pass\u00e9 : <em>\u00abAh ! Comme c\u2019\u00e9tait mieux avant, c\u2019\u00e9tait la belle \u00e9poque !\u00bb<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Selma Baccar restitue le pass\u00e9 (les ann\u00e9es \u201950 en l\u2019occurrence), et si elle met en sc\u00e8ne avec beaucoup de d\u00e9licatesse certaines facettes de la vie des Tunisoises et des Tunisois fortun\u00e9s et la <em>\u00abdouceur de vivre\u00bb<\/em> qui la caract\u00e9rise, elle souligne \u00e0 maintes reprises, en arri\u00e8re-fond, un pays o\u00f9 l\u2019on se bat contre la domination coloniale et o\u00f9 r\u00e8gne au quotidien une permanente tension entre les autorit\u00e9s d\u2019un c\u00f4t\u00e9 et le peuple et ses leaders, de l\u2019autre c\u00f4t\u00e9, et surtout le sort peu enviable v\u00e9cu par les femmes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-123986\" src=\"http:\/\/kapitalis.com\/tunisie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/El-Jaida-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"351\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Une prison pour femmes rebelles.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Lever le voile sur la condition faite aux femmes \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9poque <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Selma Baccar d\u00e9crit la brutalit\u00e9 de l\u2019occupant, la traque des milieux et leaders nationalistes, la r\u00e9pression qui s\u2019exerce sur eux, tout comme elle nous donne \u00e0 voir la vie de certains milieux, celui de quelques familles de la bourgeoisie tunisoise, ou celle de certains cercles ferm\u00e9s dont, pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment, Dar Jouad (prison de femmes), le lieu central o\u00f9 se d\u00e9roule la majeure partie du film.<\/p>\n<p>Quatre femmes se retrouvent dans cette prison dans les ann\u00e9es \u201850, soit huit mois avant l\u2019ind\u00e9pendance (entre octobre 1954, \u00e0 la veille de la d\u00e9claration de l\u2019autonomie interne, et juin 1955, suite au retour triomphal de Bourguiba).<\/p>\n<p>Ces femmes n\u2019ont pas le m\u00eame \u00e2ge et ne sont pas du m\u00eame milieu socioculturel, toutefois elles se retrouvent dans ce lieu et se voient oblig\u00e9es \u00e0 cohabiter ensemble sous la terrible autorit\u00e9 de leur ge\u00f4li\u00e8re.<\/p>\n<p>Nous voil\u00e0 plong\u00e9s dans la vie au sein de ce lieu sinistre, l\u00e0 o\u00f9 des femmes sont l\u00e0 parce qu\u2019elles sont punies par leurs \u00e9poux, et sont amen\u00e9es \u00e0 partager peines, secrets et douleurs.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-124550\" src=\"http:\/\/kapitalis.com\/tunisie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/El-Jaida-Sequence.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Les cadhis font r\u00e9gner la loi des m\u00e2les.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Un film d\u2019auteur\u2026 un engagement \u00abcollectif\u00bb <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Le film tient sa force de la ma\u00eetrise de la cin\u00e9aste sur son film, du d\u00e9but jusqu\u2019\u00e0 la fin, du sc\u00e9nario, dont Selma Baccar, la r\u00e9alisatrice, est l\u2019auteur, jusqu\u2019au montage final, celui-ci \u00e9tant sign\u00e9 de main de ma\u00eetre par Kahena Attia et ent\u00e9rin\u00e9 par la r\u00e9alisatrice.<\/p>\n<p>Le film est \u00e0 ranger dans la cat\u00e9gorie du film d\u2019auteur tout en ayant le <em>\u00abcachet\u00bb<\/em> d\u2019une \u0153uvre <em>\u00abcollective\u00bb<\/em>, dans ce sens o\u00f9 tout le monde semble s\u2019y \u00eatre investi, les techniciens autant que les acteurs et les actrices, voire m\u00eame des ami(e)s venues en tant que figurants \u00abhistoriques\u00bb, pr\u00eater main forte \u00e0 Selma Baccar, etc.<\/p>\n<p>La ma\u00eetrise est ici synonyme d\u2019une excellente direction d\u2019acteurs, d\u2019une capacit\u00e9 \u00e0 restituer des ambiances, \u00e0 faire surgir de la po\u00e9sie, des \u00e9motions, des r\u00e9sonnances, \u00e0 donner \u00e0 voir des lieux, des visages, \u00e0 faire entendre des bruits, des voix et des sonorit\u00e9s tant famili\u00e8res qu\u2019\u00e9tranges\u2026<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-124553\" src=\"http:\/\/kapitalis.com\/tunisie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/El-Jaida-Equipe.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Selma Baccar au milieu de son \u00e9quipe: une oeuvre vraiment collective.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>De l\u2019\u00e9motion, de la po\u00e9sie et de l\u2019humour <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>M\u00eame si la facture du film demeure en majeure partie classique (ce n\u2019est en rien p\u00e9joratif), le film flirte parfois avec le registre exp\u00e9rimental, et on se laisse s\u00e9duire par un flux permanent d\u2019images, belles, lumineuses, color\u00e9es et par moments, <em>\u00absombres\u00bb<\/em>, domin\u00e9es par le gris, annonciatrices de moments <em>\u00abdurs\u00bb<\/em> et difficiles\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Ces images d\u00e9filent en g\u00e9n\u00e9ral, doucement, sans rupture brutale, \u00e0 quelques exceptions pr\u00e8s, agr\u00e9ment\u00e9es le plus souvent, de dialogues subtils et d\u2019un humour fin, frais et salvateur\u2026<br \/>\nAu-del\u00e0 de sa valeur fictionnelle, le film est \u00e0 saluer, car il contribue \u00e0 restituer un pan de notre histoire et \u00e0 alimenter la m\u00e9moire collective tout en d\u00e9fendant brillamment la cause des femmes.<\/p>\n<p>C\u2019est un cri contre l\u2019oubli dans ce sens o\u00f9 il retrace les conditions dans lesquelles les femmes \u00e9taient brim\u00e9es il y a quelques ann\u00e9es, sans droits et r\u00e9prim\u00e9es au moindre \u00e9cart, en un mot chaque fois qu\u2019elles voulaient se soustraire \u00e0 la domination de l\u2019homme ou \u00e0 des traditions archa\u00efques les d\u00e9poss\u00e9dant de leurs droits d\u2019\u00eatres humains.<\/p>\n<p><em>* Cin\u00e9phile et
